Voices in an Abandoned High School
The former high school building on Grey Oaks Street had stood empty for years, but today, under the cover of the early evening, the thrill of the unknown swept through it. Lena, Kacper and Victor had come here not by chance. Fascinated by urban legends about the hidden hall and dark tales from the time before the school closed, they decided to see if any of these stories were true.
There was a smell of old dust and paper in the corridor. Their torches cast irregular shadows on the dingy walls. When Lena touched the metal doorknob from the biology room, it squeaked a protracted squeak - and to their horror she said in a muffled, slightly hoarse voice:
- Leave me... I haven't been opened in ten years.
Kacper laughed nervously, recognising this as a joke from one of his friends. But then another voice rang out from behind them, this time quieter, strangely more distinct. 'It's an old plaque on which someone once carved a name and a date:
- You'd better not go in. This place remembers everything. Even what you can no longer.
The three looked at each other. They had not yet had time to recover when suddenly the whole room began to resound with a chorus of quiet whispers: the rusty chairs moved of their own accord and the chalk began to chalk incomprehensible symbols on the blackboard.
Lena, without thinking, pulled out her phone, but the screen immediately went blank. Victor, who was standing closest to the window, noticed the reflection of someone's figure on the glass, even though no one was there.
From behind the door came the clatter of what seemed like hundreds of little feet, and the voice of the doorknob sounded again, this time much more seriously:
- The worst is yet to come. If you go in now, you will not come back alone.
A chill pierced them all. Before they had time to make up their minds, the handle dropped of its own accord and the door opened wide with a groan, inviting them inside. Inside, a shadow emerged from the darkness, quite unlike any other....
