Unusual Night at the Space Hotel
It was already late evening when Antek, Julia, Igor and Lena crossed the glass doors of the "Asteroid" hotel - the world's first hotel orbiting the Earth. A week earlier, they had won tickets in the TV quiz show "Space Showdown", and now, laughing and pushing their suitcases, they stood in an endlessly long corridor where the floor trembled slightly under their feet. They were in the middle of the greatest adventure of their lives.
At the reception desk, they were greeted by a robot named Gucio, who had a soft voice and a metal moustache. "Please forgive the delay in gravity - our system resets every day at this time," he said as Julia suddenly floated a few centimetres above the ground, while Igor's socks with a Martian chicken motif fell out of his suitcase.
Gucio handed them the key-holograms and scratched behind his ear (or rather, where his ear might be if he were human). "Rooms on the fourth floor, doors open on the password: space peppers. We only serve breakfast on the ceiling."
As they rode the moving capsule up to the fourth floor, they heard strange sounds from behind the wall: as if someone was vacuuming a buffalo or trying to teach a turtle to tap-dance. Lena insisted on going first. Before she opened the door, however, Igor discovered that the wall on the left was ... soft as pie. Antek, curious as ever, pushed it harder and the whole group, laughing, went through the wall - straight into a mysterious room illuminated by purple light. In the middle stood a huge, whirring coffee machine, surrounded by a dozen yellow, chattering hamsters in cylinders.
One of the hamsters rode up to them on a monocycle and asked menacingly: "Who dares disrupt our annual Caffeine Ball?" All four of them froze, as the coffee machine suddenly started bubbling suspiciously loudly and glittery coffee beans sprinkled from the ceiling....
