The research vessel 'Astraea' hovered motionless at the edge of the pulsating Heart Nebula, where purple clouds of gas danced between the stars like coloured veils at a ball of intergalactic spirits. The three-man crew - Captain Anka, Engineer Emil and Astrologer Zoe - sat in the wheelhouse, staring at a 3D projection of a section of the nebula. For the past three weeks, their mission had been to investigate radio anomalies that had suddenly intensified in this part of the galaxy. Emil shifted nervously in his seat, following the strange sequence of signals appearing on the monitor. "Look at this. The signal is made up of repeating fragments. It looks like... an alphabet?" Zoe, always ready to figure out Cosmos' puzzles, immediately rushed over the console. "That's impossible. No known civilisation in this part of the Milky Way could send something like that. Unless..." Suddenly the deck shook slightly. The control candles flickered and the ship received a strong energy pulse, launching everyone from their seats.
