Mila was seven years old and really liked to wear her colourful socks. One morning, as she was getting ready for kindergarten, she discovered that one of her favourite green polka dot socks had disappeared! She looked in her wardrobe, under her pillow and even in her shoe, but it was nowhere to be found. Suddenly her dog Tofi started barking and running to the door. Mila noticed that Tofi was holding something in his mouth - a tiny green thread. "It's a thread from my sock!" exclaimed Mila. Mila decided to follow Tofi. The dog led her through the garden and through the gate all the way to the big old forest, whose trees hummed as if they were whispering secrets to each other. In the Forest of Whispers, everything was different from usual. The leaves had patches of colour and the birds sang songs that Mila had never heard. Every now and then, she heard a quiet "shur- shur" and she thought she saw something small run between the bushes. Tofi suddenly stood in front of a large, hollow tree and started sniffing. On the bark of the tree was hanging... a second green thread! Mila reached for it and then she heard a very quiet little voice from behind the tree: "If you want to find your sock, you have to solve my riddle!". Mila and Tofi looked at each other with wide eyes. Who had said that? What is this riddle? And where is her missing sock really?....
