The interweb: Crossing the Mirror
Lena walked nervously through the scrubby bushes, followed somewhat reluctantly by Maks, with a rucksack slung over her shoulder. The suburban villa, which the whole school had been gossiping about, looked even darker in reality than in the pictures on the internet. Windows boarded up, ivy entwining the facade like a spider's web. It got colder, even though it was the middle of June.
- We should go back," Maks muttered, but Lena only smiled wryly. Immediately afterwards, the door gave way under her pressure, creaking protractedly. The interior smelled of dust, old books and something damp. As their eyesight became accustomed to the gloom, they saw the staircase leading to the first floor.
Higher up it was even quieter. They found a room where the walls were covered with faded wallpaper and a huge mirror in a richly carved frame stood in the corner. Lena stepped closer. Her reflection... was not her reflection. In the mirror stood a girl in a long, silver gown and looking straight into her eyes.
Maks took a step forward, but his reflection immediately disappeared, as if something had consumed it. The girl in the mirror gestured for Lena to come even closer.
- See it," Lena whispered. Maks hesitantly came up beside her. Then the room behind the sheet of mirror began to pulsate with light, and silhouettes with disturbingly familiar faces emerged from behind the girl. Shadows moved around them.
Suddenly the frame of the mirror began to tremble, as if something from that side was trying to get through. Lena felt an icy breeze on the back of her neck, and the voices from behind the glass grew louder.
Should they risk entering the world on the other side, or escape before it was too late?
