The Great Journey for Fern Blossom
In the old days, when the old oaks were humming in the forests and the sun was setting behind the high hills, in a small Slavic village there lived a boy called Jarek and his younger sister Leska. Their cottage stood right on the edge of a large forest, where forest spirits and talking animals were said to live.
One warm evening, their grandmother told them about a wonderful fern flower that blooms only once a year, during the shortest night. - Whoever finds it, will be happy all year round," she whispered mysteriously.
Jarek looked at Leśka. Their eyes shone with curiosity. After dinner, instead of going to bed, they slipped quietly out of the house and headed towards the forest. The moon was shining brightly and the singing of frogs and crickets could be heard in the air.
As they entered between the trees, they were greeted by the fluffy Hare Bury, who always knew what was going on in the forest. - Where are you little ones going? - he asked, wrinkling his moustache.
- We are looking for a fern flower! - replied Leska.
The hare shook its ears. - Well, you're not the only ones! Many unusual creatures appear in the forest on this night. Watch out for mischievous goblins, don't let them lead you astray.
Jarek and Leska continued walking until the path split in two. From one side came the laughter and quiet crackling of twigs, from the other the wind carried the scent of fresh herbs.
Suddenly, something rustled in the bushes and a strange creature with a hat sewn from bark jumped out in front of the children. He had shining eyes and a small pouch slung over his shoulder. He looked at them intently and asked:
- Which way do you want to go? Every road hides something unusual....
Jarek held his breath, Leska squeezed his hand tighter. They had to make a decision - whether to trust the mysterious creature or take the path that led between the tall ferns....
