The Garden of Whispers and Portals
Ada and Janek had long heard about an old, forgotten garden on the edge of town. Today, however, they dared to cross the rusting gate for the first time. After an intense week at university, their heads were full of stress, exams and unsettled matters. Ada, a fantasy reader since childhood, had a glimmer of excitement in her eyes as they quietly stepped into a thicket of tall ferns. Janek, slightly more sceptical, struggled to hide his intrigue.
Amidst the smell of damp and earth, behind a huge oak tree, they noticed something strange. The bark of the tree was uneven, as if someone had drawn an intricate pattern on it with light. Between the tangled roots shone a small, pale blue circle, pulsating like a heart. Ada leaned over, touched the cold surface with her finger. At the same moment, the air trembled, and a familiar but disturbing sound came from within the circle - a faint whisper that attracted like a magnet.
Janek pushed Ada away, but was unable to take his eyes off the flickering glow. Leaves began to swirl around them, even though the garden was silent. Suddenly, the light shimmered more strongly and began to expand until it formed a clear passage - a portal leading to something completely different. On the other side, the outlines of a city could barely be seen, as if made of glass and silver, and unfamiliar shapes floated in the air.
They felt as if time had stopped. As the portal rustled, Ada looked at Janek. There was a question in her eyes, "Are we going in?" Just at that moment, the sound of a branch breaking came from behind them and something - or someone - moved in the thicket behind them. They held their breath, not knowing whether to move forward or look back.
