Did You Know?

The case of the missing teleporter keys

The case of the missing teleporter keys
Michal was sitting in the kitchen, involuntarily stirring his coffee, when Hania rushed in through the door with a look that promised trouble. - 'Michal, I have a life and death question for you! - she fired out, throwing herself into the chair next to him with a dramatic sigh. - Is it about the toaster and the lost bread again? - This time the matter is more serious. Someone has stolen the keys to the teleporter! At these words Michael flopped down with coffee. The family teleporter - his dad's shiny, chrome-plated invention - stood in the basement and was the most important piece of equipment in their house. With it, they could jump to Paris for ice cream or visit their grandmother in Australia in an hour. - After all, they were always in the pickle jar on the shelf! - groaned Michael, already knowing that without the keys they would not even be able to open the teleporter door. - That's right. And now the jar was empty and someone had drawn a big arrow and the word 'SEARCH' on the lid with a marker. They both looked at each other, trying to control their laughter and anxiety at the same time. - 'Maybe it's the work of our trout cat? - Michael chuckled. Their cat, Filemon, since he had undergone an accidental mutation in the teleporter, was able to make fish noises and left wet scales instead of fur. - 'Come on, Filemon is lying on the windowsill dreaming of sardines,' Hania waved her hand, scooping the cat off the cushion, who quietly murmured 'bul bul bul bul'. - We need to find out who messed us up. Question: who in the house would have a reason to steal the keys? Dad's out, because he's at work right now.... moving the Eiffel Tower with teleports. Mum is reading her novel about the cooking magician. Philemon is just sleeping and drooling on the carpet. - 'There's still Grandma left,' muttered Michael suspiciously, remembering her mysterious smile in the morning. - Grandma would never move from her favourite loft swing. Well, unless... - Hania glanced at her watch. - It's all happening at 1:13pm, and Grandma always does something magical then! They grabbed Filemon, the backpack and headed for the basement - on arrival they found a pickle jar with a new clue on it: 'Look under the stairs'. Michael looked under the stairs, where another leaf was waiting for them, this time with a riddle: "What lies, does not walk, and moves from its place? If you guess, you will receive a key!" They both looked at each other, beaming with excitement. The strangest and funniest adventure in the history of their house was beginning before them. Now they just had to find the answer to the riddle.... Who knows where the next clues would lead them?
