Talking Umbrellas and a Night Trip to the Roof

Talking Umbrellas and a Night Trip to the Roof
In the attic of an old townhouse, Bartek found a very old, colourful umbrella. It stood behind a toolbox, all dotted and with embroidered letters on the handle. It was a rainy evening when the boy picked it up and heard a quiet voice: - Oi, be careful with my handle! - said the umbrella, squinting its colourful flaps. Bartek jumped up in surprise. - Who's talking here? - It's me, the Umbrella Man. It's been a long time since anyone has used me, and I'm very keen on interesting adventures! - giggled the umbrella, fluttering the fabric slightly. Bartek looked around. No one else was in the loft except them. There was only him, the Umbrella and the deep evening outside the window. - Why don't we look for something interesting? - Parasolek suggested. - I know one place from which you can see the whole street! The boy nodded and together with his new friend opened a small window onto the roof. Outside it smelled of rain and wind. Bartek, holding Umbrella by the handle, climbed slowly onto the roof. He felt like he was a very brave explorer. As soon as they stood on the roof tiles, Parasolek spread himself wide and fluttered like a big, colourful bird. - Look! - whispered Parasolek. Bartek looked away and saw tiny lights appear on the roofs of other tenements. Were these other talking objects? Did anyone else see them? At that moment, completely unexpectedly, something flashed right next to them under the chimneys.... Bartek felt that something very unusual was about to happen, but he did not yet know what....
