Did You Know?

Susie and the Invisible Hand

Susie and the Invisible Hand
Susie lived in a yellow house with blue windows, at the end of Almond Street. She went to first grade and had lots of ideas for playing. She liked playing most with her cat Basil, who always followed her step by step. One morning, when Susie was brushing her teeth, she noticed something very strange. Her toothbrush suddenly started moving by itself, as if someone was gently steering it! Susie looked in the mirror: no one was standing behind her. - That's impossible - she whispered and smiled slightly. On the way to school, she kept thinking about what had happened in the bathroom. When Ms Wiesia asked her to wipe down the blackboard, Susie thought how nice it would be to do it without touching the sponge. Suddenly, the sponge... flew into the air! The children opened their mouths in surprise and Wiesia applauded: - What nimble hands you have, Susie! Susie blushed and lowered her head. After school, she sat down under the big oak tree and started waving her hands in the air. Was she really making objects move? Or did she just think she was doing it? She decided to test her new skill. She stretched out her hand and thought of her favourite crayon. The crayon started to roll on the grass! At that moment, a quiet whisper sounded right next to her ear: - Hello, Susie... Susie turned around quickly, but saw no one. Her heart began to beat harder. Suddenly she felt something invisible touch her arm. Does anyone else have such powers? And who could the mysterious voice be?
