Susie and the Door under Old Oak
Susie really enjoyed playing in her grandmother's garden. She was especially fond of the old, spreading oak tree, under which she often sat with a book or chatted with her cat Figuś. One afternoon, when the sun's rays were dancing on the grass, Figuś started scratching the ground by the thick root of the tree.
- What have you got there, Figgie? - asked Susie, coming closer.
Under the twigs and leaves, she saw something she had never seen before: a small, round door, no bigger than a plate! It had a golden handle and was delicately covered in moss.
Susie felt a shiver down her spine. She touched the handle and the door swung open slightly, creaking softly. Behind them she could see a long, bright tunnel that shone like a rainbow after the rain. Figuś meowed and jumped inside first.
- Wait for me! - cried Susie and hesitated for a moment, but curiosity was stronger. She stepped carefully through the door and immediately smelt the scent of raspberries and cinnamon.
On the other side, a colourful forest appeared to her, where the leaves were shaped like hearts and stars, and little glittering balls of light floated in the air. Figuś was already running along a path made of purple sand.
- Figgie, where are you going? - cried Zuzia, trying to catch up with him.
Suddenly something rustled between the bushes. Someone was there! A shadow appeared, and the door behind Zuzia began to close slowly, creaking quietly....
