Susan and the Guardian of Teeth
Zosia was standing by the washbasin in the bright bathroom.
It was evening and the mirror had drops of water.
The cup stood quietly and the toothbrush waited straight ahead.
The toothpaste smelled of strawberry and had a little star.
Zosia whispered: "It's wash time, teethers, we start now."
She turned on the tap and applied a portion like a pea.
She brushed up, down, the front and back of her teeth.
She counted to two hundred, slowly, unhurriedly, for two minutes.
Suddenly, the cup made a sound and moved slightly.
A small, shiny figure emerged from the sinkhole.
She had a threadbare coat and a lamp like a blob.
She nodded and said in a low voice.
"I am the Guardian of Teeth, call me Swiecie," she said.
"Your teeth are calling for help, do you hear the tapping?"
The sugars wake up when the paste is swallowed by someone.
Therefore, spit out the foam and sip it with water.
Swiecio touched the mirror and the surface flashed like a pond.
In the centre flashed the Town of Glaze, full of little houses.
Sugar smoke and sticky threads floated from one.
Zosia grabbed her toothbrush and clenched her small hand.
Mum called out from the kitchen: "Remember your tongue, darling!".
Swiecio nodded and pointed to the twisting silver threshold.
"Are you ready to go in and save the smiles?"
Zosia took a step, and the mirror rustled like the sea.
