Star Syllabator
Warsaw, the year 2187. Under the transparent dome that protects the city from solar storms, the world looked like something out of the paintings of old dreamers. Flying buses, virtual parks and hologram trees were everyday life for the inhabitants. On this morning, however, everything was about to change.
Alex, Lena and Igor were attending the first year of the Academy of Cosmic Inventions. They still knew each other from childhood, but it was only now that they were living together in the dormitory that their friendship blossomed anew. One Saturday, Aleks suggested a trip to the forgotten underground of the old Copernicus Science Centre, now reincarnated as a cybernetic theme park.
According to urban legends, deep underground were still undiscovered tunnels from a time when humans were just beginning to face technology. The young explorers equipped themselves with torches and mini-drones and set off through a secret entrance that Igor found on old plans of the city.
The underground was cool and quiet. Their footsteps echoed and the torches painted blue shadows on the walls. Suddenly, Lena stumbled over something hard. A shiny metal cube protruded from the ground. They quickly cleaned it of dust and, to their amazement, noticed symbols on it that they had never seen before - they were neither earthly nor computerised.
When Alex touched the cube, its surface lit up. A stream of luminous signs appeared in the air above him, forming an incomprehensible sequence. Igor, fascinated by languages, began to write down the patterns, and Lena tried to take a picture, but her phone refused to work.
The cube suddenly trembled, and a strange sound came from within it - as if someone was putting syllables together into words, in a completely foreign language. The walls around them began to pulsate with light, and the floor sank slightly beneath their feet. Alex reached out to close the cube, but then a golden thread of light shot out from within it, enveloping all three of them.
Within a second, the surroundings changed. They were still underground, but everything around them looked like the inside of a spaceship from another dimension. There were luminous syllables in the air, and footsteps could be heard approaching from afar....
