Silent Echoes at the Pod Lasem School

Silent Echoes at the Pod Lasem School
The school Martha attended stood on the edge of the woods. Its high walls were remembered by hundreds of pupils, but this spring the place seemed strangely different. Marta always liked to wander the school corridors in the late afternoon. This time she invited Kube, a quiet boy from a parallel class, to show him something no one else knew. - Will you promise not to tell anyone? - She asked, stopping at the creaky old cupboard under the stairs. Cuba nodded, though his eyes were wide open. In his hand trembled the key he had received from Marta. They turned the key in the lock and entered the small, dark cell. To their surprise, what was inside was not the usual stash of school junk, but a completely different world. An old gramophone stood in the middle, and on the dusty walls hung mirrors smudged as if by human fingers. - It's ... It's strange," whispered Kuba, feeling the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. Marta remained silent. She felt a slight pressure in her stomach. She walked over to one of the mirrors and touched its surface. The mirror trembled and... made a quiet sound - like the echo of a long-forgotten laugh. Suddenly, the gramophone started up by itself. The melody was gentle, but full of anxiety. Images began to appear in the reflections of the mirrors - their own faces, and next to them... emotions: fear, joy, sadness, anger, which pulsed with colours. - What is this? - asked Kuba, seeing his fear taking the form of a dark blue mist in the mirror. Martha looked at her reflection, in which joy was intertwined with something she had never understood before. They took a step forward. It was as if someone was pulling them inside. They felt that this place knew all their secrets, and the gramophone played faster and faster. Marta and Kuba exchanged glances. Their hearts beat harder and the door closed behind them. The echo of their own feelings trembled in the air. What would happen if they let their emotions take over...?
