Sigrid and the fjord mist
A Viking village stands on the shore of the fjord. The morning is cool and damp over the water. The wind rustles the grass and the sails. Smoke from bonfires flies over the houses. The little Viking girl Sigrid wakes up early. Today is First Voyage Day in the village. Her father's new boat is waiting in the harbour. Seagulls flash their wings over the water and the pier.
Sigrid walks to the pier with the younger Knut. She gently touches the carved bow of the big boat. Under the plank she finds a small rune box. Inside lies a stone and a short map. On the map is an unnamed island. The stone grows warm in her hand. The rune flashes like a small star above the water.
Mist suddenly descends from the mountains onto the water. The slow sound of a horn is heard from afar. The boat rope moves on its own and trembles. The boat jerks slightly, as if it is listening to someone. Sigrid wants to call out to her grandmother Astrid, the scald of the village. The rock trembles harder and points to the mist. Knut grabs her sleeve and whispers: Can you hear? Something is coming straight towards us through the fog....
