Shadows at the Lake of Whispers
Alan had lived all his life in a small town at the foot of dense spruce forests. Summers here brought long days, emerald sunlight and invariably - boredom. Everything changed when, one evening, while walking by the Whispering Lake, Alan and his friend Maja noticed something that no one their age should have seen.
The lake had always been a place full of legends. It was said that sometimes, when the mist settled over the water, quiet whispers could be heard among the reeds. Most teenagers liked to be frightened by these stories, but Alan and Maja were sceptical.
That evening, the sun was already shining only red on the surface of the lake. Maja threw a pebble, which bounced off the surface with a splash. Suddenly, from the reeds on the left, quiet, unreal sounds began to come from the reeds - as if someone was whispering there, but the words were unfamiliar. Alan shuddered as he had the impression that he understood these voices, as if they were whispering directly into his mind.
Intrigued, they both moved towards the sound. Squeezing through the tall reeds, they came upon a small clearing that they had both never seen before, despite visiting here every summer. In the middle of the clearing stood an old, moss-covered stone with strange symbols carved on it, glittering in the sunset glow.
Suddenly the ground beneath their feet trembled and a sheaf of light appeared in the air, as if someone had unwittingly opened a door between worlds. Alan felt his heart begin to beat faster. From the light emerged a figure, hazy and hard to describe, with eyes like two moons, who looked straight at them and spoke in a voice like the quiet rustling of leaves:
"Are you ready to know what should not be discovered...?"
