School of Underground Talent
Warsaw, the year 2041. A seemingly ordinary city, although few knew that under the streets, among the tangle of tubes, cables and sewers, there was something else: an elite School of Underground Talents. It was there, in a place hidden from the eyes of ordinary people, that those who suddenly began to experience things that were difficult to explain with logic were sent.
Maks has always felt that he stood out from his peers. When he was 16, he noticed that he could stop time - for a few seconds everything around him froze, only he could move. He thought it was a hallucination, perhaps the result of sleepless nights, but the phenomenon repeated itself more and more often. He couldn't confide in anyone about it, not even Maria, his childhood friend.
Maria had her own cause for concern. Month after month, she saw strange, colourful auras around people that betrayed their emotions and intentions. After a few psychology lessons, she began to understand that she was reading people like an open book, but she had no idea why. She stubbornly searched for answers, scouring the internet, forums and old books, until she came across an enigmatic entry: "Talent is an invitation. Respond and really get to know yourself'.
They met at the tram stop, as usual. Maks couldn't stand it:
- Do you have time to talk? Something strange is happening to me....
Maria looked at the boy, seeing a pulsating, silvery light around him. She felt that her own secrets might finally see the light of day. She decided to tell all.
Just then a tram arrived. The doors opened with a quiet hiss and inside, among the usual passengers, sat the girl they sometimes saw in the corridors of the school. She was wearing a long, graphite coat and black gloves, and her gaze was piercing. As soon as they got on, the girl leaned towards them and whispered:
- If you want to understand who you really are, get off with me in two stops. This is your only chance.
Silence hung in the air. Maks felt a shiver run down his spine, and Maria felt she could see an aura around the girl like she had never encountered before - she was as black as night and at the same time as shiny as a thousand stars.
The tram was approaching the oncoming stop. The girl was already standing at the door, not taking her eyes off it. At that moment, the light outside flicked on and Maks's watch stopped the second hand for a moment....
