Ring the bell on Christmas Eve
It was Christmas Eve and it was snowing quietly. Anna and Kuba were dressing the fragrant Christmas tree. Mum was putting up the plates and Dad was lighting the lights. Suddenly Ania saw a bell on the windowsill. It was silver and had a blue ribbon. It wasn't there a moment ago. Cuba whispered: "Where did it come from?". Anne shook the bell, but nothing sounded.
There was a tiny paper ticket hanging on her ear. Anne read: "When it sounds, go to the window." It grew dark and quiet as in a fairy tale. The bell suddenly warmed Ania's hands and vibrated. It rang once, very faintly, like a drop of ice. The lights tinkled and someone rustled in the corridor. It sounded like little paws on the carpet.
The children followed the sound to the balcony. A red glove with stars was lying in the snow. Next to it were footprints, like from very small shoes. Under the Christmas tree they saw a tiny door with a gold star. The bell was now glowing with a blue, warm light. Someone knocked three times on the balcony glass. The handle vibrated and the door began to swing open.
