Did You Know?

Leo ran his finger over the phone screen once more, checking the time. The darkness in the long disused workshop hall seemed to thicken, as if the walls were absorbing the light. He walked slowly, trying not to turn on his torch - he didn't want anyone to notice him. After all, it's not every day he breaks into an abandoned building after school. Next to him walked Lena - his best friend from class. She was clearly excited. "I can't believe we're doing this!" she whispered. Leo just smiled. They found an anonymous post on a local forum: 'You can find something in the old hall by the tracks that should never have been there.' Intrigued, they decided to check it out for themselves. The remnants of glass poking out from under their shoes buzzed quietly. He used his phone to illuminate a piece of mural that someone had painted on the wall - there was a bizarre faceless figure with flowing hair and big eyes. He hadn't seen anything like it before in this area. Deeper into the hall, the air was suffocating. Leo was already about to retreat from the rather unpleasant exploration when Lena stopped by the floor, crouching. "Look at this." He noticed a metal plate under her fingers, almost completely covered in dust and debris. He leaned closer. There was a row of strange, flickering marks on the surface - they looked as if someone had burned them with a high-tech laser. Lena lightly tapped the plate, and then.... an icy blue light flashed up from below. At the same instant, the surroundings swirled. Leo felt as if the ground beneath his feet had turned to water, and the air suddenly thickened. He grabbed Lena's hand, trying not to panic. Suddenly there were waves of light around them, and the old hall gave way to a completely different landscape. They were now standing on top of a cliff, looking out at the endless ocean and the three alien moons in the sky. A sound came from the distance, as if something huge was opening its wings. Leo and Lena looked after each other - was this a world beyond their imagination? As another sound resounded, more powerful than before, a figure emerged from behind the rocks - something that could not be compared to any animal from Earth. At that moment, Lena squeezed Leo's hand and whispered: "Do you see the same thing as me?"
