Philip Bear's Lost Smile
In the green forest, right next to the babbling brook, lived Philip the Bear. Everyone in the forest knew his wide, warm smile, which he bestowed on everyone from hedgehogs to jays. But one morning something was different. When Philip looked in the dew mirror, he saw that.... no smile! His muzzle was serious and sad.
Teddy tried to laugh, but nothing was coming out. Worried, he decided to go in search of his smile. On the way, he met Susie the squirrel, who was crying because she had lost a peanut. Together they sat down under an oak tree.
- Zuzia, why are you crying? - asked Filipek quietly.
- I have lost my nut and I don't know where it is! - cried the squirrel.
Teddy felt a strange sensation in his tummy. It was heavy and sad. He tried to comfort Susie, but missed his smile very much himself. Susie, however, began to wonder:
- And you, Philip, why aren't you laughing?
- My smile is gone," whispered the teddy bear.
At that moment, a mysterious shadow appeared under the tree. Someone or something was watching the bear and the squirrel from behind the fern. Who was it? Was it this being who knew where Philip's smile was hidden? You could feel the tension in the air...
