Did You Know?

Old Brewery Clocks

Old Brewery Clocks
The brick walls of the Old Brewery in the heart of the town had been attracting the curious for years, although no one was officially here anymore. Abandoned more than a decade ago, the sprawling building with its broken windows and mysterious staircase that disappeared into the darkness was an integral part of the landscape. To many, it was simply a ruin. For Cuba, Sarah and Leo, it became a challenge. Sara first mentioned the brewery during a meeting at the skatepark on Thursday. "Have you heard that there are supposedly still old clocks ticking inside?" she asked, trying not to betray too much curiosity. Leo shrugged his shoulders. "Maybe the ghost of the former owner is still winding them up?" He laughed at his own joke, but something in Sarah and Cuba's eyes flashed. That afternoon, instead of honing their tricks, they started planning the trip. On Saturday, the sun was shining through heavy clouds as they tore through a hole in the fence and stood by a rusty door. Cuba's heart was beating faster. Everything - from the graffiti on the wall to the sound of the pigeons - seemed more important than usual. Already inside, Leo found the main corridor, where three old clocks hung on the wall under a thick layer of dust. Some of the hands moved sluggishly, although none of the clocks had batteries. "It's impossible..." whispered Sara, approaching the largest of them. Suddenly, a loud crackling sound came from an old speaker in the corner, as if something was trying to transmit a signal. Cuba walked over to the speaker. He looked at Sara and Leo. "Did you hear that?" He had barely finished his sentence when they heard a clear, distorted voice: "Go away if you don't want to stay forever." The sound fell silent and all the clocks stood at the same time. For a few seconds there was silence. There was something in the air that could hardly be called fear or excitement - rather a desire to understand what had really happened here.
