Night Reflection in the Old Mirror
The silence that reigned in the house inherited from her great-grandmother was completely different from that in the flat in the city centre. It was the first time Magda had stayed here alone overnight. Her father had to go back to work and she was left in a small village where even the dogs barked more quietly than anywhere else.
The creaking staircase, the smell of old wood and the thin curtains moving in the summer breeze created a mood from which her heart quickened its beat. In the living room, on the wall opposite the entrance, hung a huge mirror in a wooden frame - so old that the glass was wavy in places and the edges were dusted with the mist of time.
Magda sat down in an armchair with a book, but was unable to concentrate. Her head was full of complicated thoughts - about the future, her studies, decisions that seemed unimaginably important and yet impossible to make. With each movement of the clock, the anxiety grew, until finally she looked towards the mirror.
At first she saw only her own reflection - tired, with eyes full of shadows. However, after a moment, she noticed something in the depths of her gaze begin to move. The expression on her face changed, as if subconscious feelings were trying to come to the surface.
Then a light appeared in the mirror. At first the flicker was barely visible - a small spot in the corner of the glass. Then it began to spread across the entire sheet, creating ripples that illuminated the room for a moment.
Magda's heart began to beat harder. She walked closer, feeling a growing anxiety, but also curiosity. With every step she took, the light became more intense, and quiet whispers began to come from the depths of the mirror - as if the reflection was trying to talk to her, to tell her what she really felt when no one was looking.
Magda reached out her hand, wanting to touch the mirrored surface. Her fingers stopped just before the glass and her heart pounded like a hammer. In that instant, the light shimmered even stronger, the reflection disappeared, and from the mirrored depths emerged....
