Mystery of Light at the Old Factory
Evening was falling over the town as Lena, Nicholas and Sarah approached the old, overgrown fence. At this time of year, the abandoned factory ruins already attracted only daredevils or... fools. But they were something in between. Lena walked first, her torch barely piercing the darkness. Each step echoed among the concrete walls of the remains of a factory that remembered better times.
- 'Do you really think anyone lives here? - Sara asked, trying to hide the tremor in her voice.
Nikolai smiled crookedly, shoving his hands deep into the pockets of his sweatshirt. - 'Old Jarek said that sometimes you can see lights here,' he replied in a whisper.
Lena bent down and picked something up from the ground. It was an old, yellowed camera. She ran her finger over the scratched casing.
- Someone has been here recently - she noticed. - The batteries are still warm.
Suddenly a metallic bang sounded somewhere above them. The silence solidified and their breathing became clearer. A soft, dragging sound came from far away... as if someone was moving something heavy across the floor upstairs.
Sara grabbed her friends hands. - 'Maybe we should go back? - she whispered.
But Lena was already moving towards the stairs leading to the upper floor, camera in hand. A light emerged from the darkness opposite them - twitching and indistinct. There was a draught that seemed to bring with it the words. "Not everyone should come in here..."
And then they heard distinct footsteps in the corridor above them, as if someone ... or something ... was beginning to descend towards them.
