Every morning, the light of the sun spilled over the copper-clad roofs and a thick fog hid the cobbled streets underneath like a giant, soft blanket. There was always a faint smell of salt in the air and something else - something that couldn't be named, as if a little bit of witchcraft was in the air every day. In the heart of Misty Harbour, on Clockmakers' Lane, lived Eliana, the daughter of a famous clockmaker. She had exceptionally sharp eyes, which were not deceived by any illusion, and two devoted friends: Iva, the dreamer from the house above the harbour, and Lena, a girl with unusually quiet steps. One evening, when the fog was thicker than usual and the laughter of the sailors carried from the harbour, Eliana saw something strange. Old Clockmaker Rozier, their neighbour, was closing his shop much earlier than usual. The keys rang nervously in his hands, and he looked over his shoulder every now and then. As soon as dusk fell, Rozier disappeared behind a secret passage hidden in the wall of the shop. Eliana, Ivo and Lena, lurking behind the water feature, decided to follow him. They moved through the shadows until they entered the interior of the shop, suffused with the smell of metal and grease. Clocks chimed different times and their hands seemed to pause for a moment. Behind a shelf full of pocket watches waited a hidden door, through which Rozier disappeared without a trace. Through a crack they saw a staircase leading downwards, lit by a flickering pale blue light. From within it came a voice they had not heard before - a deep, almost hypnotic whisper. - Are you all ready? - whispered Lena, and Ivo only nodded. Eliana, with her heart beating like a crazy clock, took the first step down. At that moment, they heard a clang that echoed through the underground. And then - silence. Their eyes were adjusting to the light, and the underworld was hiding something neither of them had expected....
