Mirror with star
It was raining, so Zosia played in the attic. Pikuś was wheezing quietly and sniffing boxes. Under a blanket, Zosia found an old mirror. It had a silver frame and a star-shaped button. The glass was clean, as if someone had polished it. A grandmother's clock was ticking in the distance.
Zosia looked into the mirror and rubbed her eyes. She could not see the loft, only the sand and the pier. The blue sea was rippling and seagulls could be heard. Pikuś crooked his head and squealed quietly. - What is it? - Zosia whispered quietly. The button with the star shone slightly, like a tiny lantern.
Zosia touched the star, and the frame clicked quietly. There was a cold and salty breeze, until Pikuś sneezed. A damp feather flew through the mirror and disappeared. Someone called out from behind the wave, as if on the telephone. - Sophie, hurry up! The frame vibrated again and began to close. Zosia squeezed the leash, took a step forward and....
