Mirror Passage
The old library on Maple Street hid many secrets, but that evening Julka and Michal had only come there because someone had apparently heard strange sounds after dark. There was a smell of dust and old books in the air, and the tall bookcases cast intricate shadows on the floor.
Julka was always curious, with vivid eyes and long, unruly hair, and Michal-always in tracksuit bottoms, with a rucksack full of bizarre gadgets-was her best friend and partner in unusual adventures. All they had with them that evening was a torch, a thermos of tea and a huge supply of courage.
They crept between the bookcases, paying no attention to the searing cold. Suddenly, behind an encyclopaedia bookcase, they noticed a small door that no one had seen before. The door was barely visible, as if someone had tried to hide it from prying eyes. They pushed it open carefully. The door creaked open and revealed a narrow, dark corridor. Michal shone his torch and immediately their eyes were drawn to the mirror standing at the end of the corridor.
The mirror was old, framed in a frame covered with mysterious symbols. When Julka approached it, she saw in the reflection not herself, but a green-eyed woman in a cloak and silver sparks flickering in the air. Michael looked equally surprised as a large black cat with sparkling blue eyes appeared in his reflection. Suddenly, the mirror began to tremble slightly, and a swirling mist appeared in the centre of it.
"See it!" - whispered Michael, but Julka was already extending her hand towards the sheet. Her fingers glided over the cool glass, which bent under the pressure as if it were just water.
At the same instant, the library light flicked on and a quiet whisper came from the darkness: "Come in, if you dare to know the true magic..."
Julka and Michael looked at each other in disbelief.
Should they enter the mysterious world on the other side of the mirror? Is this a chance for adventure or a trap from which there will be no return?
