Live Night Circus
Summer in the city never seemed so hot, sultry and unsettling. Julia, Michal and Lena, three friends from different parts of the country, came together after a long time to spend a holiday together. They wanted to try something new, something that would stay in their memories for a long time. One night, the city lit up with a blaze of colours - the Aurora Circus, advertised as an out-of-this-world phenomenon, had arrived in a deserted neighbourhood.
They set up their circus camp in the old stadium. Crowds rolled through the main gate - young people, artists, excited spectators. Everything shimmered with light, the smell of candyfloss and the sounds of unfamiliar instruments. Among the thousands of lanterns, tents were reddening. The largest of these bore a sign: "Shows on the edge of imagination. Admission only for the brave".
Julia felt a shudder as they crossed the threshold of the tent. Inside, the air was heavy with the scents of spicy lights and anticipation. Acrobats balanced in the shadows, and a man in a fox mask strolled between the rows of seats, handing out cards with puzzling symbols to guests. Lena, always daring, took one and put it in her pocket.
Michael spotted a well-built man in a shiny tailcoat inviting them to the front row. "For the most persistent - a special performance," he said in a whisper, smiling ambiguously. The friends sat close to the arena, noticing that the guests around them were older, silent and focused.
Suddenly, the lights dimmed. The announcer - a tall, serious man with cold, grey eyes - entered the arena. "You are about to see a show that breaks all boundaries," he announced, after which the door to the arena slammed hard. A strange, translucent cage appeared right next to Julia, with nothing but a pulsating light inside. Lena squeezed Julia's hand; Michael stared fixedly, mesmerised.
The ceiling of the tent rustled - an artist descended from above on a rope, sparkling ribbons swirling around her. Everyone held their breath as, halfway across the arena, the lights suddenly flickered and strange electrical sounds began to emanate from the cage. Julia noticed that all the cards the fox had dealt began to glow in the spectators' hands.
As the sounds reached a climax, Lena realised that her card was starting to heat up. Julia's hug was getting tighter and tighter. Michael tried to say something, but his voice was drowned out by a burst of light - a figure that no one expected appeared in the middle of the arena....
