Lila and the star button
Lila was seven years old and very curious. She lived above her grandfather's workshop, full of screws and boxes. A tin robot stood on a shelf; his name was Robo. Tiko the cat slept, curled up by the warm lamp. One evening Lila found a shiny button. It wasn't from clothes, but was very heavy. It had a star-shaped mark on the bottom. Grandpa whispered: "It could be from outer space." Robo suddenly flashed a light and said: "Hi."
The button fit into the round hole on the robo. Lila touched the sign and the room trembled slightly. On the wall, a shelf of tools swung open. Behind it shone a small ship with a window. Tiko meowed and jumped inside first. The interior smelled of metal and fresh air. Images of planets and arrows flashed on the panel. Robo pointed to a button and said: "Press START once." Lila took a deep breath and pressed the button. The ship lifted off and the window showed the sky. A silent, swirling tunnel opened above the city. A voice came from the tunnel: "Lila, choose a gate." Three gates flashed with colours: red, green, blue. Lila stretched her hand over the glowing buttons. And suddenly something beeped just behind her back.
