Lena and the Luminous Reindeer Track
Snow had been falling quietly over the town since morning. It was Christmas Eve, and the gingerbread house filled the air with its sweet scent. Lena was making a paper chain out of coloured strips, while Dad was hanging stars in the window above the table. Suddenly, the little bell at the gate tinkled.
Lena slipped on her shoes, grabbed her jacket, and ran out onto the porch. A silver bell tied with a red ribbon lay in the snow. On its side was a snowflake and the letter L. The girl touched the cold metal, and the bell chimed softly.
"Hello? Who lost this bell?" she whispered.
From the town square, the big star above the Christmas tree suddenly went out. At that moment, the bell grew warm in her hand. A faint, urgent humming came from within. Mum looked at Lena, then at the bell. She nodded, handing her a hat and a torch.
Before them, a glowing trail of reindeer hoofprints shimmered in the snow. The bell rang louder, as if guiding their way toward the square. The door opened wide — and in the darkness, a red nose gleamed.
