Hania and the Three Bells of Christmas Eve
It was Christmas Eve morning and snow covered the whole yard. Hania was decorating the Christmas tree today with her dad and Burk. Lights and paper chains glittered on the branches. Suddenly, something quietly rang from between the needles. Hania stopped and looked under the lower branches. There was a small silver bell lying on the carpet. It's not our bell, whispered Dad in surprise. The beagle sniffed it and wagged its tail.
Hania picked up the bell, but it was strangely warm. On the ribbon hung a note with a crooked star. There was an inscription: Open when you hear three bells. Dad raised his eyebrows and the clock ticked louder. Outside the window, the snow began to swirl like a little carousel. Someone knocked on the glass three times, very clearly.
Hania squeezed the bell and Burek whined quietly. The lights twinkled and suddenly stopped glowing. A third, long sound came from the Christmas tree. A shadow in a pom-pom hat appeared on the curtain. A voice whispered: Hania, can you open now? Hania took a breath and moved to the window. Then something flashed between the presents, very quickly. What was it?
