Green Shelf Clock
Hania lived in a small yellow house with blue shutters. In her room, on a green shelf next to her bed, stood an old round clock with black hands. Every night, when Hania closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep, the clock would start ticking quietly: tick-tock, tick-tock, as if it wanted to talk.
But no one knew that this clock really could talk! One night, when the moon was shining brightly, Hania opened one eye and heard a whisper: "Hania, are you awake?" Hania looked around the dark room until she noticed that the hands of the clock were moving on their own, arranging themselves into a smile.
"It's me, the Green Shelf Watch. I have a proposition for you. Would you like to meet my friends?" Hania jumped up and down in surprise. No clock had ever spoken to her before! After a moment's hesitation, she nodded.
Then the clock rumbled louder: tick-TAAAK! The whole room lit up with soft light. A pencil popped out of a drawer and started bouncing on the end of the eraser. "Hi, Hania!" he called out. "I'm Pencil Drawer. Would you like to see what I can draw on the ceiling?"
Next to the cupboard, a book opened quietly and swiped the colourful pages. "Let me tell you a story about an enchanted land," she offered. The rustling bedclothes hummed a lullaby, and an old plush frog began to croak merrily.
Hania couldn't believe her eyes. Her whole room had come alive! But the strangest thing was that there was a brand new object on the shelf that Hania had never seen before. It was a small, closed casket covered with colourful stars. The casket quietly rattled and moved gently.
"Who is it?" asked Hania in a whisper. All the subjects looked at the casket, which had just started to open slowly....
