Did You Know?

Galactic Aurora Crew

Galactic Aurora Crew
The Aurora ship glided through the emptiness of space as if it were just a speck among billions of stars. Beyond the panoramic windows of the bridge, the black background was dotted with twinkling dots, and the crew - three young pilots - could not take their eyes off them. Maja, fascinated by the universe since childhood, sat at the navigation panel, tapping her fingers on a holographic map. Next to her, Victor, a master of all complicated inventions, was constantly monitoring the ship's systems. The youngest in the team, Lena, was reading up on the latest scientific reports from Earth, though every now and then she glanced out the window at the expanding nebula. Their mission was only seemingly simple: to repair the transmitting relay on the Fractus-7 orbital station, fluctuating somewhere on the borders of the known galaxy. They had never transported so far from home before. - 'At this speed, we should be there in four minutes,' chuckled Maja, checking the course. - 'Provided we don't catch another pulsar wave like last time,' Victor muttered and corrected his glasses. At that moment, the console flashed a warning light. Lena was the first to notice the message: - Someone is sending us a signal. But... it's strange. I've never seen anything like it. For a moment, the three friends were silent. A line of code appeared on the monitor and began to expand on its own, forming a complex pattern. After a while, the screen began to flash until it finally took the form of a vague, flickering symbol. - It resembled ancient writing ... but from what civilisation? - whispered Maja, feeling shivers down her spine. Victor nodded: - It's something... is waiting for an answer. At the same time, the ship entered the Fractus-7 zone. Through the portholes, they spotted the orbital station - it looked like it was dead: no lights, no movement. All immersed in a thick, greyish cloud of fog from which lightning flashed. - Aurora, this is Fractus-7 station control! Can you hear us! - a crackling, distorted voice penetrated their systems. But before they had time to reply, communications were violently cut off.... The crew looked at each other nervously, and the station began to turn slightly towards them. Everything indicated that this was not going to be a simple repair. A warning sounded on the bridge of the ship - SOMEONE or SOMETHING had just tried to access the Aurora's systems. The friends had to make an immediate decision, but they had no idea what awaited them on the other side of the door leading to the station....
