On Tuesday it rained like hell, so Franek stayed in the library. Mrs Celina stamped books with the face of a general. Franek pretended to be looking for life wisdom. In fact, he was looking for anything strange. Outside, the puddles already had their own names and plans. In the corner an old fan wheezed, as if running a marathon. On the bottom shelf something muttered quietly. A thick book lay there: the Beginner's Kitchen for Wizards. A hardback bookmark with a button was stuck inside. On the button was written: PRESS ONLY WHEN YOU HAVE CHEESE. Frank snickered. He had a yellow cheese sandwich in his backpack. To be sure, he tapped the cover with his finger. The book muttered 'au'. He walked up to the counter. 'Ms Celina, is a button in a book normal?" he asked. 'Only if it turns off the clutter,' she muttered. Frank returned, put a thin slice of cheese on the button and pressed it. The air suddenly smelled of pizza. The letters on the cover danced an oberek. The shelf trembled like a dog after a bath. Somewhere high up a paperclip broke and fell like a meteorite. At the side of the bookcase, the boards parted, revealing a narrow gap. From the gap came a crunch and a quiet whisper: 'Mmm... edamski? The slice disappeared in half a second. Something jerked the entire sandwich. 'Hey, give me back my cheese!" hissed Franek, grabbing the foil. A force pulled him towards the darkness. Mrs Celina sneezed so that the dusty map drifted away. Two glowing dots flashed in the gloom, like eyes in glasses. 'Just a bit more and...' whispered SOMETHING, tugging the sandwich harder. Frank took a step into the gap and raised his other hand. The floor shifted under his feet, like a moving conveyor belt. There was a whiff of cheese and adventure from the depths, in that order.
