Fourth message

Fourth message
Ghost Mountain was a place full of legends. For as long as they could remember, the residents of Liscinowo had warned people to stay away from it at night. However, Alicja, Dawid, Lena and Kacper, who tended not to believe in superstitions among themselves, found the abandoned hut on the summit to be the perfect place for a night-time bonfire. After high school graduation, they needed a breather and at least a bit of adrenaline - but they didn't expect to find anything more than dust and old beds with broken springs. The entrance to the hostel had long been boarded up, but someone had broken one of the boards. Inside there was a chill and an unpleasant smell of dampness. Torches illuminated the floor covered in a thick layer of dust and footsteps - clearly fresh - leading to the former reception area. "Someone's been in here," Lena whispered, to which David shrugged his shoulders - "Locals, maybe?". Intrigued, Alicia nudged something hard with her foot. She looked down and noticed a notebook with a faded cover. She opened it carefully, glancing at the slightly smudged writing: "This is the first message. If you're reading this, you still have time." They looked at each other nervously. Flicking through the next pages, they found three more notes, each increasingly disturbing. The fourth, written in fresh ink, was different: "Don't trust anyone who shows up after dark. Finish before it's too late." Dusk was falling outside the windows and a quiet creaking could be heard in the corridor. Lena squeezed Alicia's hand, Kacper rose from his seat, trying to hide his anxiety. Then the torchlight fell on a figure standing in the doorway - too late to escape.
