Foggy Border
The rain drummed against the window sills and a grey mist slowly enveloped the town. Lena, Oskar and Simon, however, were not the typical teenagers who would be content with Netflix and cocoa. Their hunger for adventure was as great as an old, abandoned farmhouse on the edge of the forest. On this cloudy, ordinary day, Lena came up with the idea: "Come on, let's check out Tailor's Manor! Summer is coming to an end, what if there's something really.... strange?". Oskar rolled his eyes, but didn't refuse. Simon, quiet but brave - set off first.
The house looked as if it was breathing fog. Greeting his friends with a slam of the shutter, he invited them inside. A creaking staircase led upstairs, where they found a room full of old books, maps and portraits with eyes that - they had the impression - followed their every move. Lena, the youngest of the three, noticed something under the carpet. "Look at this..." - she whispered, removing the thick, dusty material.
Underneath, they saw the outline of a door, as if someone had carved it into the floor. The large iron handle was covered in cobwebs. They all shuddered as Simon reached out and pressed it. With surprising ease, the door opened and a cold breeze hit their faces, carrying the smell of dampness and.... something else. Something was flickering in the depths, a blue light seeming to pulse through the tunnel going down.
- Shall we go? - Lena's voice sounded uncertain, but there was a glint in her eyes.
They descended the ladder. When their feet touched the soft, mossy ground, the world around them was... different. Crystals sprouted from the walls and hovering skylights filled the air. As they looked around in amazement, they heard someone's footsteps. From the shadows emerged a figure that looked like their own imagination combined with the strangest of dreams.
The figure smiled. - 'Is that you guys? You have come at last. I have something for you...
And then the light went out.
