Flying Carpet in Zosia's Room
One rainy afternoon, Zosia was sitting in her room. The drops were drumming against the glass and she was thinking about what she could play with today. She had plenty of toys, books and crayons in her room, but today something told her to look under the bed.
Zosia knelt down on the soft rug and peeked under the bed. To her surprise, she saw there a small, colourful fringed rug that she had never seen before. The rug was striped: blue, green, yellow and red, as if someone had conjured it out of rainbow rays.
Zosia pulled the rug out into the middle of the room. As soon as she sat down on it, she felt something happening - the rug began to gently vibrate and float above the floor! With her eyes wide open, the girl grabbed at the tassels.
Suddenly the rug flew out of the open window. It soared higher and higher until Sophie saw the whole garden, the roof of her house and the streets full of colourful umbrellas. They flew over the city and then over meadows where horses and cows grazed. The clouds looked like cotton candy, and behind each cloud something might be lurking - maybe a smiling dragon, maybe a talking bird, or maybe a huge chocolate mountain!
At one point, the rug began to twist towards a huge pink castle that was floating on a cloud. Through the window of the castle, someone wearing a golden crown was waving at her. Susan squeezed the tassels tighter and wondered who lived in such a castle and what awaited her there....
