Did You Know?

Endless Garden of Mirrors

Endless Garden of Mirrors
The night was sultry and dark, but the city slept peacefully, unaware of the small revolution in the old courtyard on Cherry Street. It was there that Lena and Igor - friends whose curiosity knew no bounds - met. Lena always carried a notebook in which she jotted down unusual dreams and ideas, while Igor had a talent for constructing inventions from things discarded by other people. That evening they both came to a dilapidated wall, overgrown with ivy and wet from the recent rain. Lena moved her hand over the bricks until she suddenly felt one of them retreat slightly. They heard a quiet rustling, and a narrow gap grew right in front of them, revealing a staircase leading downwards. They looked at each other - their hearts were beating faster than usual. Without a word they stepped inside, plunging into the cool twilight. Downstairs stretched a garden like they had never seen before. Tall, silvery grasses waved in the absence of wind, and paths were lined with small, luminous stones. The strangest thing, however, were the mirrors - huge, standing in rows, one behind the other, creating a maze of reflections. Each of them showed not only Lena and Igor, but also figures completely alien to them: a girl with green hair, an old man with an umbrella in the shape of an owl, and even... a cat in a tailcoat. a cat in a tailcoat. Lena reached into the first mirror and saw her reflection wink at her in agreement and gesture inviting her in. Igor - sceptical as usual - looked around, trying to find any explanation for this phenomenon. But the garden was changing before their eyes all the time: the sky was taking on colours they had never heard of, and distant echoes of sounds brought back memories they shouldn't have. Suddenly, one of the mirrors trembled like a sheet of water. Threads of light began to flow from its centre, wrapping the air around them. Lena took a step forward, trying to touch one of them. Igor shouted, trying to stop her, but at that moment they felt the ground beneath their feet begin to shake slightly, and muffled laughter came from behind another mirror.... What awaited them there? And did each mirror reveal a new path, or did it close off an old one? Lena and Igor stood in the centre of the garden, surrounded by countless reflections of light, ready to cross yet another threshold of the unknown.
