Enchanters of Emerald Street
Mela silently closed the heavy door of the tenement behind her, clutching a crumpled piece of paper in her hand. Lena and Konrad were already waiting for her under the lamppost, next to which the red leaves swirling in the wind were arranged in eerie patterns.
- Well, have you got it? - Lena was impatient, looking at Melia from under her black fringe.
Mela unfolded the sheet of paper and the three of them held it under the light of the lantern. The map looked ordinary until Mela ran her finger over it. The ink sparkled, the lines began to move and an inscription appeared in the corner: "Enter if you dare. Emerald Passage only open for one hour after dusk."
Konrad raised an eyebrow. - I think this is a joke.
But at the same moment, green signs were displayed on the wall of the old antique shop. A door, which they had not seen before, creaked quietly and swung open, revealing a staircase leading downwards.
- 'I think we just got an invitation,' whispered Lena.
After a brief hesitation, they moved inside. As the door closed behind them, the silence of the street stayed behind them like another world. As they walked downstairs, they felt the air growing cooler and noticed silhouettes emerging from behind translucent curtains - were they ghosts or just a shadow of their imagination?
Eventually they reached a wide hall where emerald candles were burning on brass stands. In the middle stood a figure in a long silver cloak, his face obscured by a mask.
- 'I have been waiting for you,' the figure spoke in a low voice echoing off the walls.
The friends froze. Something flashed in the air - was magic just beginning?
