Egg under the clock

Egg under the clock
There was an old sundial in the town of Podgórki. Children played there after school every day. Hania wore a star-shaped backpack. Her brother, Olek, had a magnifying glass and a map. Behind the clock grew a bush with blue berries. Under the bush was a stone like a big egg. Hania touched the stone and felt the warmth. Olek put the magnifying glass down and muttered quietly. "It's not a stone, Hania, it's an egg." I heard a loud tapping from just inside. Suddenly the egg moved and tapped harder. The bush rustled and the berries fell onto the grass. The sky turned as pink as the east from a picture. A dragon-shaped shadow slid out of the sundial. The shadow stood next to the egg and sniffed the air. Hania squeezed Olek's hand very tightly. "If it's a real dragon, what do we do now?" The egg cracked and something shone between the shells.
