As the Solaris-5 spacecraft left Saturn's orbit, the crew felt the tension that only comes when Earth's reality is left far over the horizon. There were five of them - the captain Lena Kowalczyk, the restless engineer Darek, the idealistic astrobiologist Yuna, the calm pilot Marek and the taciturn astrophysicist Tom. The days passed in routine experiments and observations of stellar phenomena, until one night the sensors picked up something unusual: a radio signal whose frequency did not match any known form of communication.
