Echo in the old school
The old school, which nobody had looked into for years, looked in the moonlight like a frame from a horror film. Zuzka, Bartek, Lena and Michal stood at the rusty gate, with rucksacks full of provisions and a night camera.
- Do we really want to do this? - Lena asked, glancing at the others, but her gaze was more excited than frightened.
- We have to! - replied Bartek with a fierce face. - If we record something interesting, we have a chance to win this competition for the best amateur horror film.
Michal pushed open the gate, which squeaked shrilly. They entered the grounds of the old school, where the weeds reached their knees and the brick walls bore the marks of time.
The door to the building was open wide, as if someone was waiting for them. Zuzka was the first to take a step towards the dark corridor, illuminating it with the light of her torch. Each of their steps echoed, and dust floated in the air in the light of the torch.
- 'I heard that in this school... - Michal began in a whisper, but suddenly the sound of moving furniture came to them from somewhere above, as if someone was moving a heavy desk.
Everyone froze. Lena raised her camera, capturing the darkness.
- 'Maybe it's just the wind,' she said quietly, but even she wasn't entirely convinced.
Slowly they moved deeper into the corridor. To their right they discovered the biology room, where damaged jars of preparations still stood on shelves. On the blackboard, someone had recently written "Do not enter here" in chalk.
At the end of the corridor was a staircase. There were quiet whispers coming from upstairs. Had they heard each other?
Bartek looked at his friends. - Are we going up there?
As soon as they took their first steps on the stairs, the torchlight flicked on and suddenly....
