The attic of Count K.'s palace, abandoned for years, has always intrigued Kacper. This summer, he and Lena decided to go through the dusty gates and see if the legends of strange sounds and disappearing objects were just a figment of the locals' imagination. The smell of dust and antiquities enveloped them already on the stairs. Amid piles of suitcases and decayed books stood a huge, artfully carved clock with a pendulum in the shape of a silver ball. Kacper approached first. The clock face did not show the hours, only strange symbols - like runes or codes. - Look, the pendulum vibrated - whispered Lena, touching the boy's arm. Just then they felt the air thicken and the light turn an unnatural blue. The clock chimed so loudly that they jumped up. Kacper couldn't take his eyes off one of the dials, which began to turn faster and faster until the image in front of them undulated like heated air over asphalt. A moment later they found themselves in a strange place. The walls were made of stone and outside the window was a view of a medieval town. People dressed in long, strange robes were hurrying somewhere, carrying chests and scrolls. On the other side of the chamber stood someone - Count K. from the old palace portrait, looking at them investigatively. - Who are you? - sounded a voice broken in echoes, frighteningly familiar and alien at the same time. Kacper turned to Lena, searching her eyes for an answer, but she only shook her head, pale as a wall. The voice of the clock echoed in their ears like ticking time.... Then, suddenly, the chamber door opened with a bang, and a girl dressed in black rushed in. - If you want to go back, you must hurry - she whispered. - Time runs differently here... Before they had time to ask anything, the clock in their dimension rumbled once more, reverberating in the stone walls. What would happen if they didn't manage to find their way back before the next hour struck?
