Did You Know?

Clocks of the Past

Clocks of the Past
The rain drummed rhythmically against the roof of the old house, and Lena searched the attic for long-forgotten books. Among the dust and cobwebs, behind a pile of boxes, she found something special - a massive, ornate clock with brass details. Cast in a style she had never seen before, it had two dials and a mechanism overflowing with cogs that seemed to move even without being wound. Fascinated, Lena carefully wiped the dust off the case. She was about to drag her finger across the hands when she heard a crackle. A pulsating, dark blue glow illuminated the clock. The girl withdrew her hand, but too late - the hands began to spin faster and faster until the world around her shook, blurring into shades of blue and silver. When the image came into focus again, Lena was already standing in a completely different place. Above her were the walls of a city she knew only from history books - massive, impregnable, shrouded in mist. People dressed in ancient costumes strolled around, and the sounds of horse-drawn caravans could be heard in the distance. Lena looked at the clock she still held in her hands. The second hand stopped exactly at noon. Suddenly, a boy in a cloak ran out from around the corner, holding a similar clock. Their gazes met. "Did you get here by the clock too?" - he asked poignantly. At the same moment, the loud sound of bells came from the city tower, and mysterious people with clocks in their hands began to gather around them. Lena felt that something was about to happen that she could never have predicted....
