Did You Know?

City of Night and Secrets

City of Night and Secrets
The city of Aurora never went to sleep. Smooth glass skyscrapers reflected the pulsating lights of neon, and people in black coats moved quietly between clubs, cafes and secret streets. It was the middle of a June night when three complete strangers found themselves in the shadows of the underground SkyLine station. Lena, a bioengineering student, had always felt she was different. Her hands could heal wounds faster than any medicine, but she had never tried it in public. She had dark hair, wore a leather jacket and never parted with the notebook in which she wrote down her dreams. Michael, an IT specialist after hours, led a double life. At night he could move objects with his thoughts alone. He was learning to use telekinesis, avoiding cameras and people. That evening, he tracked a strange signal over the ether - a mysterious transmission that disrupted the entire network. Iga, a barista at a local café, discovered her gift by accident. One touch of her fingers could bring out the deepest memory in a person. Recently, she felt a growing unease, as if someone was trying to read her own mind. At the SkyLine station, they met by chance - or it was fate that decided so. Lena bumped into Michal as he tried to catch the signal on his portable decoder. Iga watched them from a distance, waiting for the last night train. At the same moment, the station lights flickered and went out completely for a few seconds. When they came back on, a luminous symbol appeared on the wall, the likes of which no one had ever seen before in Aurora - a spinning wheel surrounded by three stars. There was a strange smell of ozone in the air, and unfamiliar people in dark cloaks began to appear around the assembled people, who seemed to move through the shadows faster than ordinary passers-by. Lena lowered her voice: "Do you guys see it too? What's going on here?" Michael glanced nervously at his decoder - the screen was blazing with a red warning. "It's a signal... but not from our world." Iga felt a piercing chill on the back of her neck. Every particle of her body screamed that something irreversible was about to happen. At the same instant, the luminous symbol began to pulsate and a mechanical, unearthly voice rang out around the entire station: "You have chosen the path of power. The future of the city depends on your decisions. Prepare yourselves for the test." The three young people looked at each other in disbelief as the air thickened and shadows slowly began to emerge from them....
