City of Invisible Powers
The rain fell endlessly, washing down the empty streets of New Edinburgh. The clock on the Town Hall tower was just striking midnight when four friends met in an abandoned warehouse. Lena, owner of the most discerning gaze in the city, stared out of a dilapidated window. Next to her stood Kamil, known for his irrepressible imagination and sense of humour, Basia the quiet dreamer with a camera ready for any phenomenon, and Nicodemus, always rational to the point of exaggeration.
They all had something extraordinary about them, but on this night that 'something' was about to manifest itself in ways they could only dream of.
- 'Someone was here before us? - Basia asked in a whisper, pointing to the mud marks leading to a dark corner of the warehouse. Lena raised her hand in a gesture of silence. At the same moment Kamil noticed a strange, pulsating glow emanating from behind the metal door. All four felt a thrill of excitement, but also anxiety.
- Maybe we'll come back another time after all? - muttered Nicodemus, but no one moved from their seat. The air currents began to swirl, and with each passing second the light outside the door grew in intensity. Suddenly, Lena felt her senses sharpen to the limit-she could even hear her own heartbeat and the distant rustling of leaves outside.
Everyone looked at each other in horror, but also in fascination.
- I think something strange has happened... - said Kamil, whose hands began to sparkle with blue light.
Basia took out her camera, but the viewfinder showed things that could not be seen with the naked eye.
- This ... it's not normal,' whispered Nicodemus as the metal door began to open on its own with a terrifying rasp.
Behind them was darkness and an even stronger aura of inexplicable power. Something was there. Someone was waiting for them.
Would they dare to enter and discover the truth about their powers? And if they did, would they still come back the same?
