Circus Astra and the Night Spectacle
Circus Astra set up in a neglected stadium on the outskirts of the city. Throughout the day, quiet crowds gathered there: kids on skateboards, students looking for thrills and even local artists. However, it was only after dark that this old tent with its red and white stripes really came alive.
The night was lit up by lunar spotlights, and the smell of popcorn and candyfloss permeated the air. In the midst of these lights, Lena, a new illusionist, appeared, offering a show full of modern magic and daring light illusions instead of tricks. Persistence shone in her eyes, as she knew that on this very night, more than just the delight of the audience depended on her.
Next to Lena was Bruno, a grey-haired lion trainer with scars on his forearms and the look of a man who has seen everything. He had spent half his life in the circus and was its legend. Bruno had a feeling that this evening would bring something new - for he had heard whispers from members of the troupe about peculiar animal noises spreading through the arena, although all the cages were closed.
The final show of the season was to be the biggest show in Astra's history. The auditorium was filled to capacity. Lena was preparing for her big number, her hands trembling slightly but her face remaining calm. However, she heard Brun whispering:
- Did you hear that? - He asked, slightly terrified. - It's not my lion. I have never heard such sounds.
Before Lena had time to reply, the lights of the tent suddenly went out for a few seconds. When they returned, Lena and Bruno noticed that one of the cages standing just inside the entrance to the arena was open, although no one had touched it. From inside the arena came an unnaturally deep murmur. The spectators held their breath, and the lights flickered to the centre of the arena, where a shadow of something no one had seen here before appeared....
