Christmas Eve whispering from the attic
On Christmas Eve, Ola and Kuba came to visit their grandmother. Outside, snow was falling and gingerbread was smelling. The Christmas tree stood in the living room and twinkled. The children hung stars and candy canes. Grandma said: "We are about to sit down to dinner." Suddenly, a quiet bell sounded outside the window.
Ola slowly walked over and pulled back the curtain. The street was empty and quite white. A tiny silver bell lay on the doormat. It had a red ribbon and a small card. One word was written on the card: "Please". The bell was warm, as if from someone's hand. Cuba whispered: "Is this a sign from Santa?". Then they saw something else, very strange. Small wet footprints glittered on the carpet. The footprints led straight to the attic door.
The door was locked with an old handle. The bell in his hand sounded stronger, like a small heart. Something rustled above the ceiling, like a paper wind. Grandma stopped and looked at the children. Grandma whispered quietly: "Do you hear that, dear?". Snow dust flashed on the doorknob and disappeared. Ola touched the handle and the metal was warm. From behind the door came a whisper, very tentative: "Can you help me?" Someone on the other side rang the same bell.
