Did You Know?

Captain Tire's Lost Socks

Captain Tire's Lost Socks
It all started on Friday the thirteenth, in the shabbiest part of Richard Editor High School - the school laundry. Yes, their school had its own laundry. And no, nobody knew why. Victor, the self-proclaimed master of memes, was just finishing a lecture on the superiority of socks with unicorns over those with avocados, when Iga burst into the laundry room with a look that heralded disaster. She had one banana sock in her hand and her favourite hat of Captain Tir - the school mascot who, for some reason, her class had nominated as president of the local council. Captain Tir was a bit too eccentric for a mascot, as he wore a hat with a built-in watch and spoke only in action movie quotes. - I lost my second sock! - exploded Iga. - 'And I found THIS,' she added, showing the hat. - It was sitting in the drum of the washing machine. But there... there's something else in there. It barely fit inside! Victor rolled his eyes. - 'You mean to say you discovered the legendary black hole in the washing machine? We all know that it swallows socks, just like the system swallows our dreams. Iga looked him in the eye. - I'm not kidding! It was moving. I heard a voice saying: "Give back what is mine, or meet the wrath of the sock lord." Suddenly, a third figure emerged from the shadows - Johnny, who had been hiding behind the washing machine for several minutes, looking for... his own undoing. - 'Oh dear, these are no ordinary socks! - whispered Janek, pulling from his pocket the harmonica he always carried with him just in case. - The washing machine muttered pirate anthems, and then I heard something about Captain Tir's hidden treasure. The three friends stared at the rotating drum. Inside swirled not only a mixture of other people's laundry, but also a shadowy, shimmering stain. As the neon light flickered, a shadow emerged from it: it had a decidedly sock-like silhouette, but emanated the aura of a dark commander. - Time for another challenge! - a voice thundered, and a sheaf of gold buttons and confetti shot from the drum. Victor didn't have time to say anything more as the whole room was filled with a thick fog that smelled of lemon powder. Something was grabbing them by the legs, pulling them towards the wavering boundary between reality and... the laundry dimension. The three looked after each other in a split-second decision. Who would dare enter another world beyond the missing sock and Captain Tire's hat? Will they return? Will they discover the truth about the sock lord? The fog grew thicker and thicker obscuring everything around them, and the washing machine drum slowly opened....
