Book of Reflections

Book of Reflections
A rainy night shrouded the streets of the town of Robur. The stone houses creaked quietly and the lanterns cast shadowy patches on the cobblestones. At the heart of this shimmering tangle stood a low building with its green paint falling off. The signboard above the door proclaimed: "Antiquarian Shop Without Time". The first to appear was Lena, a girl with fiery hair who loved books more than people. She moved her finger along the tarnished shop windows, as if she could read through the layers of dust. Behind her, almost silently, Olek entered - a tall, thoughtful boy, famous for his ability to talk to cats. The last to arrive was Pola. She had pale skin and black nails, and a pendant with a piece of uncut crystal dangled around her neck. She rarely spoke, but her gaze absorbed everything, as if she were seeing the world through a magnifying glass. As night fell for good, the three friends sneaked through a side entrance to the antique shop. Inside, not only the smell of old parchments awaited them, but also a silence that seemed to whisper. Lena, confident, illuminated the room with an old torch. Olek moved towards a cluttered corner and Pola stopped, touching the dusty floor with her hand. - 'There's something strange here,' she said quietly. Lena and Olek walked over and began carefully lifting the dishevelled boards. Underneath, they found an old suede book with silvered edges. Its cover reflected light in a bizarre way, creating swirling patterns. - Do you think we should open it? - Olek asked, looking expectantly at Lena. Without hesitation, the girl moved her fingers over the cover and immediately felt a tingling sensation on her skin. Pola trembled, as if she felt a chill pierce the air. At the same moment, the light in Lena's torch suddenly began to pulsate, and a quiet, rhythmic rumble sounded around them. The pages of the book spontaneously opened in the middle, revealing a drawing of a non-existent street which, to their surprise, they recognised through the window of the antique shop. As Lena stretched her hand towards the pages, a thin ray of light fell from the book to the floor, and their shadows began to move differently than they should. - Can you see this? - whispered Pola, moving closer. Everything around them began to vibrate, as if the world was only moments away from being completely transformed....
