Did You Know?

Between Worlds - Labyrinth of Mirrors

Between Worlds - Labyrinth of Mirrors
It all started with an old ticket found behind a wardrobe in my grandmother's house. It was faded but still legible - with a date from thirty years ago and a name: Phoenix Theatre. Lena shook the cardboard box and looked at Kuba, who only shrugged his shoulders. - Shall we go? - He asked with a note of challenge in his voice. They liked such non-obvious excursions. Especially since the town had become strangely predictable and the daily routine as monotonous as page after page of identical notebooks. The theatre had been closed for years, shrouded in the legend of a place where the lights died and the music fell silent with the last performance. Only feral forsythia and nettles grew around it, and the windows glowed with darkness. The gate, however, gave way under the light pressure of Lena's hand, surprisingly light for something that hadn't been opened for a decade. The interior smelled of dust and memories. The red velvet of the seats was covered in a pale layer of dust, and the silhouette of a large mirror in a gilded frame loomed over the stage. Lena and Kuba exchanged communicative glances. Kuba's reflection in the mirror... was slightly different. His eyes seemed to glow with a strange light, and Lena had the impression that her own face was being pulled into the depths of the sheet. Suddenly, a glow flashed behind the mirror. A voice came from the distance, high and melodious: - Do you dare to cross the border? The reflection showed a world where upside-down things weaved through misty corridors. Someone on the other side of the mirror showed them with their hand to come closer. Lena felt her heart speed up and the world around her begin to spin.... Then there was a crash, as if something had interrupted just behind their backs. The door to the theatre slammed shut with a bang, and the light from the mirror shimmered even harder. Lena and Kuba hesitated for a second - one step was enough to change reality forever. But was that really what they wanted?
